On Sunday, officers were dispatched to a dispute at a home on Vann Avenue.
The victim told them that Larandance Johnson had kicked her and her dog and was threatening to beat her with a brick.
The woman provided officers with an audio recording of the altercation.
In the recording, investigators heard what sounded like the male striking the woman and the dog, followed by the animal yelping in pain.
Johnson denied touching the woman or making any threats, claiming instead that she threw a brick at him.
He is facing multiple charges, including battery, animal cruelty, and felony intimidation.
