An inmate who escaped from the Henderson County Detention Center has been sentenced to an additional 10 years in prison.
Timothy Oliver was working outside the facility with two other inmates, refurbishing and painting bicycles for the Salvation Army’s children’s Christmas drive.
While under supervision, Oliver hopped onto one of the bikes and rode off.
The deputy was unable to catch him, and the bicycle was later found abandoned south of the jail.
He was caught the next day in Reed.
Oliver was originally serving time for third-degree burglary.
