An Evansville man is arrested after he tried to break into a bank.
Monday afternoon, officers responded to Old National Bank on Washington Avenue to assist with an investigation.
When they arrived on scene, they found Trenton Wethington by the entrance with a pair of vice grips and broken glass on the doors.
He told officers that he had a bomb in his bag and “If I were you, I’d be getting the bomb squad up here.”
He claims he was trying to get into the bank to speak to federal government officials.
There was no bomb, and Wethington was taken into custody.
He is charged with intimidation with a deadly weapon, false reporting, and criminal mischief.
