A group of employees from Oakland City University is working to file a class action lawsuit to recover a month of missed paychecks.
OCU President Dr. Ron Dempsey promised employees their two missed paychecks would hit accounts two days ago.
When that didn’t happen, Dempsey told employees that he was misled on the status of the funds.
OCU says the money needed for payroll was secured through donors, but it’s unclear what’s taking so long.
The final effort to cover payroll will be to sell the Deaconess building on campus.
Employees are hoping a class action lawsuit will not only recover their pay but send a message to the administration.
