Union County officials are considering a zoning ordinance that would ban the use of storage containers on private property.
The proposed ordinance is already affecting storage businesses.
If the ban goes through, residents can go through their local planning commission to get containers approved.
The mayor of Sturgis, who had initially requested a ban on the storage units, withdrew his request during a public hearing last night.
The reason for the ban is still unclear.
