An Evansville woman is accused of stealing large sums of money from her 80-year-old mother.
Sarah McFarland was appointed Power of Attorney when her mother was placed in an assisted living facility.
She was arrested last week as part of an investigation that began last July.
McFarland allegedly spent her mother’s money on everything from lion safaris to boat rentals and department store purchases.
In total, police say she spent over $916,000.
Once she became the Power of Attorney, she stopped paying the assisted living facility.
McFarland is charged with theft and fraud and has since bonded out of jail.
