Warrick Humane Society has been awarded a Rachael Ray No-
Kill Excellence grant from Best Friends Animal Society, a leading national animal welfare
organization working to save cats and dogs in America’s shelters.
This competitive grant of $20,000 supports lifesaving in the Tristate Area through our Fostering
Hope: Expanding Support to Save More Lives program, which is helping us grow our foster
system so that we have more resources to save more lives. This program has a goal of 292 dogs
and cats saved.
“This Rachael Ray No-Kill Excellence grant means that we can save more dogs’ and cats’ lives,”
said McKenzie Puckett, Communications Coordinator, Warrick Humane Society. “These lives
deserve saving, and we deeply appreciate the support from Best Friends and the Rachael Ray
Foundation — it will help us, and our community, reach this lifesaving goal and to develop a
larger and more established foster program, which means this isn’t a temporary impact – it’s an
impact that lasts.”
Warrick Humane Society is one of 53 shelters and rescues from across the country to be
awarded Rachael Ray Save Them All and Rachael Ray No-Kill Excellence grants in 2026. The
grants in total are projected to save or impact over 19,000 cats and dogs.
“Warrick Humane Society was selected among 320 applicants to receive a Rachael Ray No-Kill
Excellence Grant because of its innovation, dedication, commitment, and readiness to save
pets’ lives,” said Whitney Bollinger, Director of Strategy & Network Operations, Best Friends
Animal Society. “We are so proud to provide grant funding to support Warrick Humane
Society’s critical lifesaving work in the Tristate Area!”
The Rachael Ray No-Kill Excellence Grants is a grant program, administered by Best Friends and
funded by The Rachael Ray Foundation™, that provides grants to shelters for euthanasia
reduction initiatives. The Rachael Ray Foundation helps animals in need and is funded by a
portion of proceeds from each sale of Rachael's pet food, Nutrish®.

About Warrick Humane Society
Warrick Humane Society, a no-kill shelter located in Newburgh, Indiana. It was founded in 1983
by a handful of dedicated volunteers who rescued lost, injured and neglected animals. Since
WHS opened their building in 1997 and began actively working with Animal Control agencies
and other rescue organizations, WHS has saved thousands of animals and placed them in loving
homes. Warrick Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) no-kill rescue dedicated to improving companion
animals’ lives. WHS does not receive any funding from taxes or any national organizations.
WHS is funded entirely by individual and corporate donations, bequests, grants and fundraising
events. Because all animals adopted by WHS are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, treated for
parasites and microchipped as well as receiving any other special care they may need, finding
enough funding is always a challenge.
