City officials gathered for a groundbreaking at the future Red Bank Library site on South Red Bank Road yesterday.
The new library will include meeting and reading and green spaces.
The library was built on the site of a home built in 1850 by Henry Tiemann, grandfather of then-library board member Jane Heneisen and her twin sister, Luise Schnakenburg.
The beloved “Heidi” stained-glass window donated in memory of their mother was saved from demolition.
No word yet on when the new location will open.
