A Louisiana man is in hot water after allegedly faking being the victim of a hit and run.
Arthur Bates Jr. was arrested on Friday after he called the police saying he was hit by a Tesla in the parking lot of a busy gas station. Bates swore it was a hit and run, but cops tracked down the Tesla and looked at the car’s camera footage. That ended the pipe dream of scoring some money.
Police say “it became apparent that Bates was lying and staged the entire event” as they viewed the footage. Bates has allegedly confessed to staging the incident by “falling” behind the car as it backed up.
If you’re going to fake an incident, remember that cameras are everywhere.
